Ivan Hackley, 63, of Reynolds, North Dakota died of cancer Wednesday, December 3, 2008 at his home under care of Hospice.
Memorial Services will be 1:00 pm, Saturday, December 6, 2008 at the Bilden Funeral Home in Northwood, North Dakota.
Ivan was born in Columbus, Ohio on September, 21, 1945 the third of six children to Ivan Lester and Ruth (Taylor) Hackley. He lived in Ohio until he joined the U.S. Army in 1963. On December 16, 1967 he was united in marriage to Esther Gleason at the Sigdal Lutheran Church, rural Hamar, North Dakota. Ivan and his family resided in several different states during his 24 year employment with the Department of Defense with 16 of those years residing in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Following his retirement in 1994 the family returned to North Dakota. He then entered the private sector and found employment with UND and with JLG Architects in Grand Forks until 2005.
Ivan was an enthusiastic car hobbyist.
He is survived by his wife, Esther Hackley; daughter, Lynnette (Charles) Scheuring of Lidgerwood, North Dakota; sons, Ivan Wade (Gwen) Hackley of Pueblo West, Colorado and Jeremy Hackley of Fargo, North Dakota; grandchildren, Alexandra, Abigail, and William Scheuring and Travis and Mikaylin Hackley; sisters, Corena Ann (James) Rafferty and Roxann Woods both of Marysville, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Clayton, Jerry and John Hackley.
The Bilden Funeral Home of Northwood, North Dakota is in charge of arrangements.
