Doug was born to Bert and Lorraine (Lyste) Morkve on August 23, 1951. Doug was the kindest, most gentle and caring friend anyone could have. He worked hard all of his life and how he loved to tell stories. Real life stories that were far better than anything you would see on the movie screen, television, or read in books.

Doug married Judy Haugen from Hatton, ND on June 14, 1975. Doug cared for Judy as much as Judy cared for Doug. Although Doug and Judy never had any children of their own, their nieces and nephews and all of the Johnson Stock Farm family children were treated as their own. Doug had a special bond with Rendi Johnson Ebach and you would always hear Doug introduce her as his daughter. How he would “beam” while speaking of her.

Doug had hobbies of hunting, fishing and wood working. His picnic tables were as heavy as a one-ton truck. His pottery benches will last three generations; they were so well made. He was a “word search” player knowing how many books and puzzles he had completed since becoming ill.

Doug had a love for the land, farming and farm animals. At a very young age, he was working by his father's side in the fields and barns and that love continued throughout his entire life.

Doug spent many years working for the Johnson Stock Farm…. a job and family that he always spoke so highly of. He enjoyed the annual cattle drives and “west fest’ parties that took place over the years.

Doug leaves behind his wife Judy; brother, Randy (Joyce), sister, Lori (Jeff Miller); four nephews: Travis (Jessica) Morkve, Todd Morkve, Trey Skjoiten (Brittany Anderson), and Cole Skjoiten. He is also survived by several grand nieces and nephews; aunt Yvonne Offerdahl; brother-in-law, Russell (Becky) Haugen; sister-in-laws, Debbie (Jeroy) Mehus and Sue (Ed) Storey; and many cousins.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Bert and Lorraine Morkve; grandparents, Anna and Albert Morkve and Nels and Olga Lyste; along with numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Doug always had a special laugh and smile that would brighten anyone's day. He usually ended his conversations by saying “Good to see you” for all he came in contact with.  Oh Doug, how you will be missed.
