Zachary Sawyer

Zachary Michael Sawyer, 35, of Northwood, ND, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, February 3, 2026. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at St. John Lutheran Church in Hatton, ND. A visitation will be held Tuesday, February 10, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service at the church.

He was born on February 24, 1990, in Grand Forks, ND, to Carey Sawyer and Patricia (Lawrence) Sawyer.

Zach was, above all else, a family man. He was a devoted husband and a deeply loving father whose children were the center of his world. Being their dad was his greatest pride and joy, and his love for them was unmistakable—it showed in the way he showed up, the way he cheered the loudest, and the way he poured his whole heart into their lives. His children knew without question how deeply they were loved.

Zach had a passion for life and a genuine kindness that came straight from his heart. He found joy in fishing, golfing, playing and watching hockey, working on cars, and spending time doing what he loved most—being with his family and cheering on his kids at their hockey games. Whether it was on the ice, in the garage, or on the sidelines, Zach lived fully and loved fiercely.

Those who knew Zach will remember his big heart, his passion, and the way he made others feel seen and valued. He was the kind of man who gave freely of himself, loved deeply, and left a lasting mark on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

He was preceded in death by his father, Carey Sawyer; his grandparents, Mary and George; and his grandparents, Norma and Bob.

Zach is survived by his loving wife, Amanda Sawyer, of Northwood, ND; his cherished children, Christian (14), Grayson (13), Maci (11), Hailey (4), and Cora (4); his mother, Patricia Sawyer, of Northwood, ND; his brother, Robert (Alicia) Sawyer, of Glenfield, ND; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who will miss him beyond words.

Though his time here was far too short, the love Zach gave will live on through his children, his family, and the countless memories he created. He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
