Warren Nienas

Warren G. Nienas, 87, of Thompson, North Dakota passed away Saturday, March 3, 2012 at Hatton Prairie Village, Hatton, North Dakota. Funeral services will be held Friday, March 9, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at the Holmes United Methodist Church, rural Reynolds, North Dakota. Visitation will be Thursday, March 8, 2012 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service at Hatton Prairie Village, Hatton.
Warren was born June 11, 1924 at the family farm in the Holmes community to Arnold and Blanche (Niemeier) Nienas. He attended Park River Ag School and graduated from Wahpeton State School of Science. On September 30, 1951, he married Mardell Rydland at Washington Prairie Church near Hatton, North Dakota. After their marriage, they lived on and farmed the family farm. Warren was also a seed dealer for Northrup King. He was very active in his community and church, which included being a 4-H leader, member of the Holmes softball team, the Holmes band, church officer and a soil and tree conservationist.
Warren is survived by his wife, Mardell; children Cynthia Tredwell, Thompson, Roxanne (Dan) Fabian, Roseau, MN, Jonathon (Cheryl) Nienas, St. Louis, MO and Michael (Tammy) Nienas, Fargo, ND; grandchildren Aaron Tredwell; Mark (Mandey) Fabian, Erik (Tina) Fabian and Jason Fabian; Leah, Tyler and Emily Nienas; Zachary, Alex, Andrew, Joshua and Ellie Nienas; great grandchildren Max, Alexis and Jackson Fabian; siblings Majorie Nienas, Fargo, ND and Ralph (Verle) Nienas, Portland, OR; sisters-in-law, Ollie Beine and Gaynelle Rydland and eleven nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents, sisters Crystal Nienas and Rosalia Olson and brother Harold Nienas.
