Wallace Truman Ruud was born January 13, 1924 in Northwood, ND to Gotfred and Mabel (Burthwick) Ruud. He attended school at Lind 89 country school for 8 years and graduated from Northwood Public School in 1942.

Wally proudly served in the United States Navy from 1944 to 1946. He served during WWII as a Seaman First Class on the U.S.S. Trenton.

Wally met and fell in love with Patricia Kittock.  On May 18th, 1949, they were married in Northwood. While married, Wally farmed and did carpentry work.  They had two children, Debra and Ronn. He belonged to the VFW and was a life member of the American Legion and Disabled American Veterans.  Wally loved music and played in many bands throughout his life.  When he retired from farming, Wally kept himself busy golfing, playing bingo, playing in pool league, and playing cards for “2 bits”.  He also enjoyed hunting, gardening, oil painting, going to high school sporting events and eating meals at the Senior Citizens Center.  Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family.  Wally was a fixture in his community always willing to lend a hand or a tell a joke.  He will be greatly missed by many.

Survivors include his grandchildren: Troy (Amy) Myron and their children: Brenden, Rylan and Carter; Trent (Tracy) Myron and their children: Karlee, Carson, Emery and Haley; brother, Donald Ruud, and many nieces and nephews.

My cousin, Ronn, taught me how to fish. RIP Ronn.

Wally allowed another cousin and myself to fish from his skiff on Golden Lake one time while vacationing from California. We caught a LOT of perch. We didn't sink the boat, lose any fingers/toes or get arrested, so I considered it a very good outing.

I spent a month at Wally's place about ten years ago and learned a lot about our family and Northwood at that time. I was happy I got to hang out with Paul Ruud at that time also. RIP Paul.

I was lucky to be able to spend some time visiting Debbie at the Deaconess Health Center before her passing. RIP Debbie.

My condolences to all of Wally's family and his many friends.

A sad day here on earth, a glorious homecoming in heaven. My condolences to the family. Every year we would make the trip from California to Northwood, and seeing Uncle Wally was first on our list. I looked up to him, musically he was one of my big influences. Breaks my heart that I'll never see him again, but I know he awaits me and all my family. We'll sing in that heavenly choir when we meet again. Love ya Uncle Wally, Rest well.
