Vernita "Patsy" Bjoralt

Vernita “Patsy” Bjoralt, 88, of Northwood, ND, passed away Thursday, February 2, 2023, at Northwood Deaconess Health Center in Northwood. Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 11, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at Ebenezer Free Lutheran Church in Northwood. A visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. Memorials are preferred to Ebenezer Free Lutheran Church or Northwood Deaconess Health Center.

Patsy was born on April 15, 1934, in Northwood, the daughter of Gust and Myrtle (Olson) Carlson, the youngest of 9 children.

Born and raised in Northwood, Patsy attended school and graduated from Northwood High School in 1952. Upon graduation, Patsy went to work for Jay and Evelyn Grotte at Evelyn’s Drive Inn as their very first car hop.

During her time in Northwood, she met the love of her life. She was united in marriage to Graydon Bjoralt on June 21, 1953, subsequently raising their four children: Kim, Brian, Tami and Joni.

Later on in life, Patsy attended Area Vocational Technical Institute (AVTI) in East Grand Forks, MN, earning her degree as a Ward Secretary and going on to serve in that capacity at the Northwood Nursing Home until her retirement in 1998.

Patsy led an active life because of her love of church and family.

Patsy is survived by her children: Kim (Betsy) Bjoralt, Fargo, ND; Brian (Marilyn) Bjoralt, Fargo, ND; Tami Trostad, Northwood, ND; Joni (Greg) Nygaard, Fargo, ND; 11 grandchildren: Kelly (Ian) Costello, Chris Bjoralt, Corey Bjoralt (Shayla Hustad), Nathan (Casey) Bjoralt, Kevin Bjoralt, Jill Trostad (Shelby Cofell), Thomas Trostad, Jonathan Trostad, Justin (Jadie) Nygaard, Rachel (Jared) Aluise, Paige (Seth) Kaiser; 12 great-grandchildren: Eloise, Gradynn, Isabelle, Kaleb, Laken, Asher, Everly, Liam, Brennan, Emrie, Finn, Sawyer; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband Graydon; her parents, Myrtle and Gust Carlson; father and mother-in-law, Ingel and Bessie Bjoralt as well as all her siblings and their spouses: Floyd (Bernie) Carlson, Mendora (Muns) Thorsell, Skip (Javon) Carlson, Marge (Mike) McMahon, Toby (Melba) Carlson, Fred Carlson, Fern (Mac) Virden, Donna (Eldred Evanson) (Martin) Knutsvig; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
