Thor Lieberg

Thor Lieberg died quietly after a struggle with kidney failure on Sunday, November 23, 2008 at the Manor Care - Lely Palms in Naples.

Thor Robert Lieberg was born August 30, 1922. He was raised in Northwood, North Dakota and graduated from Northwood High School. He then attended the University of North Dakota before serving in the U.S. Navy during World War II. On June 27, 1947 he married Helen Halvorson and they had two children, Marilyn and Bob. He started his career selling appliances in the early 1950's. In 1957 he moved with his family to Minneapolis and was Vice President and Director of Sales for the F.C. Hayer Company for over 40 years. In 1991 Thor retired and moved to Naples, Florida and enjoyed spending his summers at his lake home on Cotton Lake near Detroit Lakes, Minnesota.
Thor was an avid hunter and fisherman and owned a hunting camp called Ponderosa for 40 years. He also loved to travel to many countries throughout the world. Over the years he was a member of Zurich Temple in Minneapolis, Ducks Unlimited and the Elks.
He was a devout Christian and was member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Naples.

He is survived by his family: Adaline Lieberg; Ruth Anderson; Marilyn (Steve) Holter & Ayren and Bob (Joan) Lieberg & Michael (Amanda) and Jacob.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen; parents, Odd and Solveig; brothers, Earl and Odd and sister, Gerd.

Funeral Services will be 2:00 pm, Saturday, November 29, 2008 at Northwood Evangelical Lutheran Church in Northwood with burial in Northwood Cemetery.

Visitation will be on Friday at the Bilden Funeral Home from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm with a 7:00 pm Prayer Service and one hour prior to services.

Memorials may be directed to the Northwood Cemetery Fund.

The Bilden Funeral Home of Northwood is assisting the family with arrangements.
