Theresa Thompson-Dafforn

October 14th, 2008 Theresa Thompson-Dafforn of Hatton finished her journey on earth peacefully surrounded by family and entered her heavenly home after a courageous battle with cancer.


Theresa was born August 4th, 1961 the daughter of Robert Voelker and the late Shirley (Johnson) Voelker. She attended grade school at Niagara Elementary School and graduated from Unity High School in 1979. She earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education from Moorhead State University in 1983 and a Master's degree in Elementary Guidance Counseling in 1999 from NDSU. Theresa married Scott Thompson in 1985 and together they had three lovely daughters, Kendra, Kayla and BriAnna. Scott passed away in 1998. In 2004, she married Brian Dafforn adding three stepsons, David, Eric and Jake. Theresa dedicated twenty five years of service to the Hatton School District teaching Kindergarten for fifteen years and then a School Guidance Counselor.
She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church where she was very active over the years. Theresa enjoyed quilting, gardening, crafts, oil painting, photography, drama, all kinds of music and going home and spending time on the farm. She always enjoyed spending time with family and friends, but her most cherished joy was her daughters.


Theresa is survived by her husband, Brian; daughters, Kendra, Kayla and BriAnna Thomspon all of Hatton, North Dakota, step-sons, David, Eric and Jake Dafforn all of Hatton, North Dakota; father, Robert Voelker of Niagara, North Dakota; sisters, Kathryn (Dennis) Dalbey and Roberta (Robin) Carlson both of Fordville, North Dakota; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her mother, husband, Scott and her grandparents.


Funeral Services will be 10:30 am, Saturday, October 18, 2008 at the Hatton High School Gym in Hatton with burial in St. John Lutheran Cemetery in Hatton.


Visitation will be on Friday at St. John Lutheran Church in Hatton from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm with a 7:00 pm Prayer Service and one hour prior to services at the High School Gym.

Memorials may be directed to the Theresa Thompson-Dafforn Memorial Scholarship Fund, St. John Lutheran Church Technology Fund or the Hatton Area Angel Fund.
