Thelma Holte

Thelma J. Holte, 89, of Northwood, North Dakota passed away peacefully in her sleep at her daughter's home in Fergus Falls, Minnesota on Monday, November 23, 2009.

Funeral Services will be 1:00 pm, Saturday, November 28, 2009 at Ebenezer Free Lutheran Church in Northwood with burial in North Cemetery rural Northwood.

Visitation will be on Friday at the Bilden Funeral Home from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm with a 7:00 pm Prayer Service and one hour prior to services in the church.

Thelma Jenive Halvorson was born on February 4, 1920, in her parent's home in Northwood the first born daughter of Torgar and Josephine H. (Graftaas) Halvorson. She grew up in the Northwood area with her parents, sister, Blanche Jean and brother, John Gorman "Buddy". On December 14, 1938 she was united in marriage to Ernest C. Holte. They parented seven children. She helped Ernest with the farming and live stock in addition to caring for their seven children and the household duties.
She belonged to Ebenezer Lutheran Church since 1920. She sang in the church choir for several years and taught Sunday School. She also served with the Ladies' Aide for many years.
Thelma loved having her family close by her and cherished the time she had with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Survivors include three sons, Warren (Jean), Ernest Jr. (Jackie), and Lyle (Robin) all of Northwood, North Dakota; three daughters, Janet Gendron of Fergus Falls, Minnesota, Carol (Brad) Eken of Portland, North Dakota and Isabel (Duke) Wild of Florence, Kentucky; nineteen grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; several step grandchildren and their children; and her brother, John (Beverly) Halvorson of Corona, California.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Ernest, son Roger, an infant brother, and sister, Blanche.

Thelma will be dearly missed by her family who loved her dearly, and so many friends both old and new.

The Bilden Funeral Home of Northwood is assisting the family with arrangements.
