Dear Kari and Kim and families, Sorry I do not have your addresses, if I did I'd write to you both. I had the joy of meeting your dear mother once in Grand Forks in 2000. We were distant cousins (my grandmother Jennie Buraas Anderson was from Aneta and grew up on a farm between Aneta and Northwood). Thelma and I shared the love of researching our Norwegian ancestors. We also shared the fruits of our labors in finding them and when we went to Norway, too, we each rejoiced about being there! We have just retired after 30 years in Saudi Arabia and are now living near Seattle, thus the long delay in my condolences. My cousin Peache in Northwood kindly sent me a copy of Thelma's obituary. I do hope you get this. I am so very sorry. I will miss Thelma's letters and emails. You were the apple of her eyes and she was so PROUD of each of her daughters and grandchildren! Deepest sympathy once again. Sincerely, Patty Boddy Tharp

My sympathy to all the family to have lost such a lovely lady. I have not lived in the area as an adult because I left when I married but kept in touch with my distant cousin Thelma. Darlene McNsmee

Dear Kari, Kim and families, I do not have your addresses, so please excuse my using this forum to say how sorry I was to hear of Thelma Ann's death. I loved your grandmother, Cora, when I was young and I greatly respected your mom as a person. I was proud to be her cousin (though a bit removed--Cora and my grandmother were first cousins). Thelma Ann and I had an interest in Norway in common and I always thought it would be so much fun to go there with her. I know she was honored as a teacher; you can be proud of her for a life well lived. I do remember when I first saw her--though I knew of her much earlier. My mother, Eleanor Anderson Gillespie, had spent summers on the farm when she was a child and she wanted us to have the same experience. My older brother and I took the train to Larimore and spent two weeks with Cora and Tom. It was harvest time, so we got to see it at the best time, I think. Your mom and Vernon were helping with the harvest and I thought they were so glamorous and grown-up. They were so kind to us and I savor those memories. I am both happy and sad thinking of her today.
