He married Jean Johnson of rural Hatton on November 27th, 1959 at St. John Church, Hatton.

Russell served on numerous boards in the Hatton community throughout his lifetime. He enjoyed going to his grandkids’ activities and spending time with his wife, family, and friends.

He always liked checking out different eating establishments.

He is survived by his wife, Jean, of almost 61 years. He is also survived by his children; Rick (Lori) Pladson of Hatton, Clyde (Dawn) Pladson of Hatton, and Lori (Cory) Kritzberger of Portland, his grandchildren; Anne (Kameron) Collette, Kelsey Pladson (Zach Enger), Ryan Pladson, Trevor Pladson, Jacob (Brenna) Pladson, Reed Kritzberger, Cole Kritzberger, and Bryn Kritzberger, his great-grandson, Brody Collette, his sister, Ruby Brown, brother, James Pladson, sister-in-law, Judy Atkins, and numerous nieces and nephews.
