Richard Bjerke

Richard Bjerke, 86, of Hatton, ND, passed away Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at Hatton Prairie Village in Hatton. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 31, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church in Hatton. A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the church.

Richard Bjerke was born November 11, 1938, in the Northwood Hospital to Oliver and Andrea (Ovrid) Bjerke. He grew up in rural Hatton and attended country school. After eighth grade, Richard attended Hatton High School, where he graduated in 1956. After school, Richard began farming. He farmed and raised cattle in the rural Hatton area for most of his life. He also helped at the West Fargo Stockyards on occasion. Richard was married to Beverly Scholts for a short time. After his retirement from farming, Richard enjoyed spending his winters in Arizona.

Survivors include his sisters, Ardath Schollander, Los Lunas, NM; Merillyn Rice, West Fargo, ND; Rachel Evanson, Northwood, ND; Richard is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Elroy, Dale, and Dennis.
