Raymond Sherva

Raymond Sherva, 86, of Grand Forks, ND, and formerly of Larimore, ND, passed away Saturday, December 20, 2025, at Edgewood Memory Care in Grand Forks. Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 10, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Ebenezer Free Lutheran Church in Northwood, ND. A visitation will be held Saturday, January 10, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service at the church.

Raymond Charles Sherva was born October 19, 1939, in Northwood, ND, to Reuben and Idella Sherva. Raymond was the oldest of 4 children. He grew up and attended school in Northwood, ND, graduating from Northwood High School in 1958. After graduation, Raymond worked for Gabriel Construction in the summer and fall of 1958. Raymond enlisted in the US Army in February 1960 and was stationed in Fort Leonard Wood in Missouri for basic training. He then was sent to Fort Gordon in Georgia for training in the Signal Corp. After training in Fort Gordon, he was sent to Tai Pai, Taiwan. He was assigned to the military advisory group Taiwan. Raymond was honorably discharged in April 1962. Raymond began employment at Lee High Portland Cement Company in Allentown, Pennsylvania. He worked for 5 years and then started a career with IBM Corporation at Gaithersburg, Maryland, from June 1967 to November 1992 when he retired. Raymond had 2 sons, Charles and Darren Sherva. Raymond was married to Carol Lynn Perdue for 27 years. Carol passed away in March of 2009. Raymond loved traveling, spending winters in Tucson, Arizona, and motorcycles. He was an avid Washington Redskins fan.

Raymond was preceded in death by his parents, Reuben and Idella Sherva; his beautiful sister, Carolyn Morten; his spouse, Carol Sherva; and his son, Charles Sherva. Raymond is survived by his son, Darren (Jessica) Sherva; 2 stepdaughters, Tracy Olive and Kelly Norvelle; 5 grandchildren; 2 sisters, Eileen (Bob) McLaren, and Dianne (Ted) Sheppard; and many nieces and nephews.
