Raymond LaChapelle Sr.

Raymond LaChapelle Sr, age 87 of Northwood, ND passed away Wednesday, October 17, 2012 in Northwood. Funeral services will be held Monday, October 22 at 2:00pm at Aurdahl Lutheran Church in Portland, ND. Visitation will be held Sunday, October 21, 2012 from 5:00 - 7:00pm with a 7:00pm prayer service at the Bilden Funeral Home in Northwood.
Ray was born November 11, 1924 at White Earth, MN to Philip and Myrtle (Beabeau) LaChapelle. He was a WWII vet and was a Purple Heart recipient. Ray was also a member of the American Legion, VFW, and Disabled American Vets. In 1944, Ray married Claudine Flaten in Detroit Lakes, MN. Claudine passed away September 28, 2006. Not only was Ray a good carpenter, he was a great dad with a sense of humor.
Ray is survived by his children: Diane (Richard) Onstad, Northwood, ND, Darol (Kathy) LaChapelle, Ada, MN, Ray (Ila) LaChapelle Jr, Walhalla, ND, Robert (Sandy) LaChapelle, Michigan, ND, and Renee (Brad) Amundson, Oakes, ND; grandchildren; Michael, Carie, BJ, Natasha, Scott and Chad; great-grandchildren: James, Shelby, Skyler, Brooke, Myah, Logan, Thomas, Ethan, and Gavin; Joyce LaChapelle, Olaf and Ruth Flaten, James and Avia Flaten, Florence Flaten Brendan, Irene Flaten Hanson, and Donna Flaten Walstad.
Preceding him in death were his parents, wife Claudine, son Duane, and great-granddaughter Josephine.
