Paul H. Skjoiten, 83, of Hatton, North Dakota died, Thursday, September 4, 2008 at the Tri-County Health Center in Hatton.
Funeral Services will be 10:30 am, Tuesday, September 9, 2008 at St. John Lutheran Church in Hatton with burial in the St. John Lutheran Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the Bilden Funeral Home in Hatton on Monday from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm with a 7:00 pm Prayer Service and one hour prior to services in the church.
Paul Harvey Skjoiten was born September 1, 1925 on the family farm in Grand Forks County rural Hatton to Gustov P. and Myrtle (Bjertness) Skjoiten. He attended Washington #70 rural school through the 8th grade and was a 1943 graduate of Hatton High School. He began farming at a young age and continued to farm until retiring. On July 13, 1947 he was united in marriage to Norma Jean Anderson in Hunter, North Dakota. They made their home on a farm west of Hatton. After Paul's retirement he enjoyed helping his son on the family farm.
He was a Baptized and Confirmed member of St. John Lutheran Church.
Paul's greatest passion in life was farming, he also enjoyed traveling, yard work and visiting and spending time with friends and family, especially his grandchildren.
He will be dearly missed by his wife of 61 years, Norma; son, David Paul Skjoiten of Northwood, North Dakota; daughter, Lori Joanne (Jim) Lain of St. Charles, Illinois; grandchildren: Trey and Cole Skjoiten and Conner and Morgan Lain; brothers, Glenn (Dorothy) Skjoiten and Lynn Skjoiten both of Hatton, North Dakota and sister, Mae (Alton) Skjoiten-Larson of Moorhead, Minnesota; several nieces and nephews also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
The Bilden Funeral Home of Hatton is assisting the family with arrangements.
