Orvis Bye

Orvis Ardell Bye, 84, of Hatton, ND, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at Sanford Medical Center in Mayville, ND. A memorial service will be held Thursday, April 27, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Goose River Lutheran Church, rural Hatton. A visitation will be held Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at 5:00 p.m. with a prayer service to follow at 7:00 p.m. at the Hatton Prairie Village Chapel in Hatton.

Orvis A. Bye was born April 29, 1932 to Alfred and Olga (Bjerke) Bye in Newburg Township, rural Hatton. As a young man, Orvis spend many days hauling water and gravel in his 59 Ford. He then began farming with his brother Alfred Jr. until his retirement at the age of 65. For many years, Orvis served on the Hatton Coop and Hatton Farmers Elevator Boards. He also served as treasurer on the Goose River Church Council. Orvis was a hardworking, honest man who seldom complained. He will be deeply missed by his family and countless friends.

Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Marilyn; children: Debbie (Curt) Gilberg, Thompson, ND; Tami (John) Vigen, Horace, ND; Brad (Beth) Ness, Thompson, ND; Troy (Lisa) Ness, Kindred, ND; grandchildren: Ryan (Phuong) Gilberg, Chad (Laura) Gilberg, Lisa Gilberg, Rachel (Ron) Gierszewski, Chris Vigen, Madison Ness, Pete, Hunter and Allie Ness; great-grandchildren: Emma, Logan, Grace, Owen, Alyssa, MaKenzie, Tyler; sisters: Francis Braaten, Mayville, ND; Delores (Rob) Kringlen, Grand Forks, ND; sister-in-law, Ruby Bye, Hatton, ND; Orvis is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Preceding him in death were his parents, brothers: Arnold, Clarence and Alfred Jr; and sister, Marie (Norman) Pederson.

Since the allergy season is in full bloom, the family requests no floral arrangements. Greenery or silk appreciated.
