Orlo Gordon Haugen

April 26, 1931 — October 1, 2012

Orlo Haugen, 81, of Hatton, ND passed away Monday, October 1st, 2012 at his home in Hatton. Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 6, 2012 at 2:00pm at St. John Lutheran Church in Hatton. Visitation will be held one hour before the time of the service. Burial will be held at the St. John Cemetery, Hatton.
Orlo was born April 26, 1931 to Carl and Geneva (Stevening) Haugen at the family farm near Portland, ND. He attended rural school near Portland and then in Hatton. On July 9, 1949, Orlo married Deloris Rasmussen in Northwood, ND. Deloris passed away September 1st, 1995. In addition to farming, he also worked a number of years as a mechanic for Green's Service Station. He went on from there to be a Ford mechanic at Pederson Implement Co., for whom he worked many years. In his later years, he also worked as a janitor at the May-Port School and many other jobs that kept him always busy. He also enjoyed cutting wood with his chainsaw and visiting the casino. Orlo loved country music and playing in his band and also with his many friends. Many of those times were spent playing in his garage on the farm or just about anywhere.
Orlo is survived by his children: Judy (Douglas) Morkve, Northwood, ND, Debbie (Jeroy) Mehus, Hatton, ND, Sue (Ed) Storey, West Fargo, ND, Russ (Becki) Haugen, Erskine, MN; 14 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, special friend, Rosemary Peterson, and her children: Steve (Dawn) Peterson, Surrey, ND, Scott (Jeannie) Peterson, Thompson, ND, Brian (Annette) Peterson, Larimore, ND, and Timmy Peterson, Wahpeton, ND; Cousin Inez Drake, Grand Forks, ND, brother-in-law Howard Rasmussen and Sister-in-law Beverly Brewer. Orlo is also survived several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, brother and sister.
