Melvin Olson, 98, of Finley, North Dakota died Wednesday, November 4, 2009 at the Hatton Prairie Village in Hatton, North Dakota.

Melvin (Gullick) Olson was born in Finley Township on the home farm on September 3, l9ll to Gullick and Clara Olson. He was baptized in Ostervold Lutheran Church and confirmed in the Finley Lutheran Church in l926. He was a l931 graduate of Sharon High School. After graduation he continued to live at home assisting his father in farming. In l938 he married Agnes Mickelson and the couple lived on the Carl Long farm for several years. When is mother passed away his father asked them to come back to assist on the home farm which they did. He retired in l970 due to ill health. Agnes passed away on November 21, 2005 and Melvin continued to make his home in assisted living at the Hatton Prairie Village.

He is survived by 2 sons, Don of Fairfield, CA & Finley, ND, David (Marilyn) of Hickory, NC, 3 grandchildren Thomas David Olson (Nancy) of Los Vegas, Nevada, Colleen (Chad) Radford of Marana, AZ, Bridget O'Leary of Albuquerque, New Mexico, one great grandchild, Christiane Radford; nieces and nephews also survive.

He was preceded in death by his wife Agnes of 67 years, parents Gullick and Clara Olson, one sister Annie and three brothers Oscar, Dr. Everett and Claris.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 11, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. in the Ostervold Lutheran Church rural Finley, ND. Visitation will be on Tuesday, November 10 from 5 - 7 at the Hatton Prairie Village with a 7:00 prayer service. The interment will be in the Ostervold Cemetery.

The Bilden Funeral Home of Northwood is assisting the family with arrangements.
