Melba Antonson

May 9, 1925 — February 27, 2022

Melba Rose Antonson, 96, of Northwood, ND, passed away Sunday, February 27, 2022, at Northwood Deaconess Health Center in Northwood. A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 21, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Ebenezer Free Lutheran Church. A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. Burial will be held in the Northwood Cemetery. Melba's service will be live streamed at https://www.ebenezerflc.org/live-streaming/

Melba Rose Antonson was born on May 9, 1925, on a farm near Werner, ND to Cora Amundson Torgerson and Torvold Torgerson, the seventh in a family of nine.

During the “dirty 30’s”, the family moved to a farm near Sharon where she attended rural school and Finley High School.

She married Alfred Antonson in St. Paul MN in 1946 and they began farming near Sharon, ND.  In 1965, they moved to Northwood where she was employed at Northwood Deaconess Health Center.  Following her retirement, she volunteered in many ways.  She also enjoyed yard work, golfing, fishing, reading, crosswords, and of course her grandchildren.  Melba was a member of Ebenezer Free Lutheran Church where she was active in Sunday School, choir, and the WMF. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Alfred, son Charles, four brothers Harry, Truman, Kenneth and an infant brother as well as sisters Mabel, Kathleen, and Florence.

She leaves three sons: Dale (Terry), Wayne (Corrine), and Pete (Mary, daughter in law Debra and ten grandchildren:  Jeff, Daniel, Scott, Derek, Ryan, Neil, Lisa, Nicole, Eric, and Kristina as well as a number of great grandchildren and a sister, Loretta Wendlick and numerous nieces and nephews.
