Mary Neubauer

Mary Neubauer, 79, formerly of Larimore, ND and St. Cloud, MN, passed away Sunday, May 4, 2025, at Unity Hospital in Grafton. A graveside service will be held on Friday, May 23, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Bellevue Cemetery in Larimore, ND. A luncheon and time of sharing will follow at the Good Friends banquet room in Larimore.

Mary Jean Mootz was born on November 5th, 1945, in Northwood, ND, the daughter of Mavis (Ostrom) Mootz and James Mootz. Mary loved life. She was so adventurous and always on the go, which most of the time meant spending time with family, whom she loved deeply. She was quick to joke around and laugh, had a great sense of style, completely enjoyed family gatherings, going for rides in the country, spending time with her grandchildren (and grand-pets), exploring our wonderful country, and so much more. Her personal favorite pastime was creating items for local fairs. She received many ribbons over the years for doll making, hand-made clothing, painted ceramic figures, arrangements made from nature, and more. Mary was active in the Alcoholics Anonymous community for decades. She experienced the uplifting support of mentors, and in turn became a support person for many others throughout the years. By the grace of God, and one day at a time, she achieved 45 years of sobriety in March, 2025. Mary had strong faith in the Lord and looked forward to the day she would be with Him and loved ones that had gone before her. These past months she often talked about missing her mom. Though we loved her beyond measure and will miss her dearly, we are grateful knowing that they are now together with Jesus. 

Mary is survived by her significant other of 20 years, Jack Eastman; children, Jodi Otto (Jason), Brian Galbraith (Liz), and Kelley Walker-Blake; sisters Linda Keeley (Bill) and Terrie Anderson (Andy); brother, Durwood Mootz; grandchildren Cassidy, Tiana, Makenna, Maya, Griffen, Brayden and Abigail; great grandchildren Orson, Maksim, Nyla and Ellie; and many nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mavis and James Mootz; brothers Frankie Mootz, Jimmy Mootz (Bev), Oral Mootz (Linda), Wayne Mootz; and sister Darlene O’Donnell (Dan)
