Margaret Mehus

Margaret Lorene Mehus passed away peacefully surrounded by family on January 20, 2023 at the Northwood Deaconess Health Center, where she resided since 2018.  Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 26, 2023, at 2:30 p.m. at the Bilden-Askew Funeral Home in Northwood. A visitation will be held from 1:30 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. The burial will take place in the spring at Goose River Cemetery.

Margaret Lorene Sondreal was born September 7, 1939, to Engebret and Gertrude Sondreal in Newburgh Township, Steele County, ND. She attended school in Northwood and graduated in 1957.  She welcomed a son, John and daughter, Tara and remained very close to them until her death.  She worked in healthcare facilities in Northwood, Hatton and Mayville, creating lifelong friendships that were very dear to her.  Margaret loved having coffee with friends, trips to Medora with her family and visiting family in Flint, Michigan and across North Dakota.  She enjoyed reading, long summer walks, flowers and animals.  She especially enjoyed her pet dogs. 

She is survived by brothers, Jim Sondreal in Flint, Michigan and Ervin Sondreal in South Dakota; sister, Mary Johnson, Sharon ND; son, John Sondreal, Fargo, ND and daughter, Tara (Thomas) Williams in Bismarck, ND; nephew, Jimmy in Flint, Michigan; nieces, Rendi (Shane) Ebach and their daughter Piper, Northwood, ND; Darci (Joe) Schettler and son Taylen and daughter Ali, of Killdeer, ND and Kim of South Dakota.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, John and Richard.
