Lyle Erickson

Lyle Douglas Erickson, 73, of Hatton, ND passed away Friday, December 7, 2018 at Hatton Prairie Village in Hatton. A memorial service will be held Monday, December 10, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at St. John Lutheran Church in Hatton. A visitation will be held Sunday, December 9, 2018 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service at the Hatton Prairie Village Chapel in Hatton.

Lyle was born August 1, 1945 in Northwood to Ernest and Grace (Pladson) Erickson. He attended Enger Township country school until 6th grade and then graduated from Hatton High School. On July 31, 1964, Lyle married Linda Pladson at Little Forks Lutheran Church, rural Hatton. In 1973, Lyle bought the Arneson farm. He farmed from 1974 until his retirement in 2008. Lyle served on the Newburg Township Board, St. John Church Council and contributed in many different capacities to the Hatton Community Center. He spent his lifetime doing what he loved most, farming. He was thankful to see one final harvest completed. We will miss his humor and laugh.

Lyle was most appreciative and specifically wanted to thank all his family and friends and the numerous visits they all made, and the many miles people traveled to help him enjoy his days since diagnosis. It meant the world to him to reflect on the many great memories of his life.

The family would like to extend a very special thank you to Pastor Bruce Vold and all the wonderful caregivers and staff from Red River Valley Hospice and the special Hatton Prairie Village.

Survivors include his wife, Linda; children: Todd (Lois) Erickson, Casselton, ND; Tom (Ann) Erickson, Hatton, ND; Tara (Paul) Molling, Onalaska, WI; Tiffany (Corey) Moen, Mayville, ND; grandchildren: Shawn (Alyx) and Alissa; Ashley and Bradley; Taylor and Tristan; Ali and Andrew; sister, Renae (Roger) Gjellstad, Stanley, ND; nieces Robin Thomas and Rhonda Peterson, and nephew, Ryan Gjellstad and many other special aunts, uncles, and cousins.

When I think of Lyle....I always get a smile on my face. When I would frequent Paula's Cafe in Mayville on my many trips home to ND, I often was fortunate enough to spend special tidbits of time with him where he would always share his "people wisdom" with me. Ha! We had many a laugh....My last visit with him he told me our next "people wisdom" conversation would most likely be somewhere other than Mayville. Cherish your memories of this charming gentleman with a great outlook on life...and on his next adventure. My sympathy to his cherished family.

I met Lyle after I moved to Hatton in 1998. He always had a kind word to say. After he got to know me, he invited me to be a member of Newburgh Township as Clerk and Treasurer. I will never forget when visited me, to help me learn the duties as a township treasurer. Lyle always had some funny stories to share. He was truly, a wonderful man.
