Lewis "Jim" James Olson

L. James "Jim" T. Olson, age 74 of Northwood, ND and formerly of Grand Forks, ND passed away on Saturday, February 26, 2011, at the Northwood Deaconess Health Center.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 3, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at the Northwood Evangelical Lutheran Church, Northwood, ND. Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 2nd from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service at the Bilden Funeral Home, Northwood, ND. Visitation at the church for one hour before the time of services. Burial in the Northwood Cemetery.

Lewis James T. Olson was born February 22, 1937, on the family farm at Logan Center to Thomas and LuElla (Evanson) Olson. He attended school at Logan Center and Northwood and moved into Northwood with his family in May of 1947. Jim was baptized and confirmed at the Northwood Evangelical Lutheran Church. He was employed by local potato farmers. In 1955, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy serving four years. After his discharge from the service he went to Minneapolis and worked for Lazy Sue Potato Chips. Jim also worked for Western Potato and at Prairie Harvest in Grand Forks. On December 14, 2009, he moved to the Northwood Health Center.

Survivors include his brother, Duane Olson, Altus, OK and sister, Vidette Knain, Grand Forks, and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents; sister, Lola Ann Olson; sister-in-law, Doris Olson and brother-in-law, Eugene Knain.

Clergy: Pastor John Nelson and Pastor Dean Lyste.

Music: Alane Jodock, Pianist and Christina Nelson, Soloist.


Casket Bearers: Kerry Knain, Mike Knain, Larry Jacobson, Dylan Schneider, Andrew Schneider, and Christopher Schneider.

Military Rites: Victory Post #92, Northwood American Legion.

The Bilden Funeral Home of Northwood is assisting family with arrangements.
