**Update** - Services for Jean Midtbo will be rescheduled for Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Goose River Church, rural Hatton.
Jean Midtbo, 89, of Hatton, ND, passed away Tuesday, February 27, 2018 at Hatton Prairie Village, in Hatton. Funeral services will be held Monday, March 5, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at the Goose River Lutheran Church, rural Hatton. A visitation will be held Sunday, March 4, 2018 from 2:00 -4:00 p.m. with a 4:00 p.m. prayer service at the Hatton Prairie Village Chapel in Hatton.
Jean Thompson was born on July 28, 1928 to John & Josephine (Berg) Thompson. She was baptized, confirmed and married in Goose River Church. She graduated from Hatton High School and Concordia College. She taught Home Economics at Buxton High School and worked as a Home Economist for the Extension Service at Benson, MN. On June 5, 1954, Jean married Olaf Midtbo and together they farmed west of Hatton in Steele County. She was an active member of the community and participated in many organizations. Jean enjoyed belonging to the church women's organization, WELCA and created countless crafts and knitted items for their annual bazaar. She volunteered at the Hatton Food Bank, was a 4-H leader, and Sunday School teacher. She enjoyed singing in church choirs, community cantatas and community theater musicals. Her hobbies were cooking, canning, sewing and machine knitting in which she belonged to the Valley Machine Knitters of Grand Forks. She and her husband, Olaf enjoyed visiting with anybody they met and would attend countless high school and college sporting events.
Survivors include her children: JoAnn (Curtis) Funseth, Northwood, ND; Brian (Dawn) Midtbo, Redmond, WA; and Paul (Michele) Midtbo of Kansas City, MO; grandchildren: Marie (Sean Beanland) Funseth, Kari (Jeremiah) Messner, Kyle (Kathryn) Funseth, Katelyn (Dustin) Renner, Kelsey Midtbo, Adonica Midtbo and Alexa Midtbo; three great-grandchildren and brother, Ted (Ada) Thompson, Hatton, ND. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brothers, Lewis and Nikolai Thompson and a sister, Elisa Benson.
