Howard M. Rasmussen, 88, of Northwood, ND passed away on his birthday, Saturday, October 3, 2015 at Valley Memorial Homes in Grand Forks, ND. Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 8, 2015 at 1:00p.m at Beaver Creek Lutheran Church, rural Northwood, ND. A visitation will be held from 11:00a.m until the time of the service at the church.
Howard was born October 3, 1927 in Beaver Creek Township, on the family farm, to Harry and Hannah (Sotendahl) Rasmussen. He was a member of Beaver Creek Lutheran Church. On September 29, 1946, Howard married Irene Nelson of Hatton at the parsonage in Northwood. He farmed in the Beaver Creek area until 1954. They moved to Fisher, MN where Howard worked for the Flaat Farms Feedlot.
In 1966, Howard and Irene moved back to the Beaver Creek Farm and farmed and milked cows. In 1972, he worked at Concrete Inc. as a manager of the welding shop before retiring. On November 10, 1982, Irene passed away. In November of 1983, Howard met and married Gladys Larson Gulson of Reynolds. They resided in Grand Forks until they both moved into the Assisted Living Apartments in 2012. Howard's health prevented him to care for himself in which he moved into the skilled unit that same year.
Survivors include his wife, Gladys; children: Audrey (Jim) Ostlie, Northwood, ND; Harlan (Lori) Rasmussen, Thompson, ND; Gregory Rasmussen, Northwood, ND; Jan (Roger) Bollier, Huntington, TX; step-daughters: Sharon (Rodger) Nygaard, Reynolds, ND and Barbara (David) Durgin, Reynolds, ND; 13 grandchildren: Shawn, Kevin, Michael (Lindsay), Jeanette (Brett), Melodie, Dean, Danny, Melissa, Amanda, Ross (Anne), Tara (Jon), Brian (Rochelle), and Jay (Monique); 19 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild on the way.
Preceding him in death was his first wife, one brother and one sister.

My sympathy to Howard's family. I have many great memories of working with Howard. He was known as the tractor driver who could plant the straightest corn and potato rows in the area. He knew the cattle business bery well. We all enjoyed working with Howard. God bless his memory.
