Grace Erickson, 89, of Hatton, North Dakota died, Monday, July 26, 2010 at the Hatton Prairie Village in Hatton.
Funeral Services will be 10:30 am, Friday, July 30, 2010 at Little Forks Lutheran Church, rural Hatton with burial in Little Forks Lutheran Cemetery.
Visitation will be in the Hatton Prairie Village Chapel on Thursday from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm with a 7:00 pm Prayer Service and one hour prior to services in the church.
Grace Adelaide Erickson was born to Willie and Ida (Norgaard) Pladson on November 29, 1920 in Newburgh Township. She was baptized and confirmed in Goose River Church. Grace was raised on the family farm attending country school and graduated from Hatton High School in 1939.
On December 12, 1941, Grace was united in marriage to Ernest Erickson in Hatton. While Ernest was serving in WWII, Grace stayed with his parents, the Erick Erickson family, and helped with work on the farm. After the war Ernest and Grace farmed west of Hatton in Enger Township where they raised two children and farmed for 35 years. She spent many hours combining with Ernest during harvest seasons.
After Ernest's death in 1982 she remained on the farm for three years and then moved into an apartment in Hatton. In 2003 Grace entered the Tri-County Nursing Home following a stroke.
Grace enjoyed sewing, quilting, all kinds of handwork and gardening. Her hands were always busy doing something. She was an active member of the Little Forks Lutheran Church and its WELCA, the American Legion Auxiliary and the Tri-County Auxiliary.
Grace is survived by her son, Lyle (Linda) of Mayville, ND and daughter, Renae (Roger) Gjellstad of Stanley, ND; seven grandchildren, Todd (Lois) Erickson, Thomas (Ann) Erickson, Tara (Paul) Molling, Tiffany (Corey) Moen, Robin (Mike) Thomas, Ryan (Beth) Gjellstad and Rhonda (Ryan) Peterson; nine great-grandchildren, Shawn and Alissa Erickson, Ashley and Bradley Erickson, Taylor and Tristan Molling, Ali and Andrew Moen and Tyler Gjellstad; sister, Ruby Brown of Eureka, CA; brothers, James (Joyce) Pladson and Russell (Jean) Pladson both of Hatton, ND and Ray Pladson of Fargo, ND along with several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ernest and brother, Edward.
The Bilden Funeral Home of Hatton is assisting the family with arrangements.
