Glenna Uglem

November 18, 1924 — February 20, 2015

Glenna Uglem, 90, of Northwood, ND passed away Friday, February 20, 2015 at Hatton Prairie Village in Hatton, ND. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at 11:00am at Northwood Evangelical Lutheran Church in Northwood. A visitation will be held Monday, February 23, 2015 from 5:00 to 7:00pm with a 7:00pm prayer service at the Bilden Funeral Home in Northwood.

Glenna Kjelland was born November 18, 1924 to Clara and Alfred Kjelland. She was raised in rural Park River, ND, on the family farm, attended rural elementary school and graduated from Park River Ag School. Glenna went on to N.D. Ag College (NDSU) in Fargo and attained a B.S. degree in Science/Home Ec. She taught school in Fergus Falls, MN and Northwood, ND. There she met Raymond Uglem. They were united in marriage October 22, 1950 at Park River Lutheran Church and made their home in Northwood. She continued to teach for a few years and then stayed home to raise a family but would substitute teach when needed.

Glenna enjoyed her family and was an excellent cook and baked wonderful treats. She liked to sew, read, watch sports, travel and play bridge. Glenna was active in Ladies Aid and taught Sunday School. She was a member of Literary Club, Legion Auxiliary and Bridge Club. She cheered for the NDSU Bison and wore green and gold to watch football games on TV.

Glenna and Ray spent 11 winters in Hawaii and traveled to Norway, Mexico, Arizona, California and many other states. Glenna was a loyal wife who was very supportive of their family farm equipment business, Uglem-Ness Company.

Glenna is survived by her son Bruce (Jonal) and daughter Catherine Pladson; four grandchildren - Ross and Andrea Uglem and Anne and Kelsey Pladson; sister: Bernice Rinde; nephews: Paul (Lisa) Rinde and daughter Alexa, Scott Rinde, Don (Karen) Uglem, Gerald (Joanne) Uglem, Brad (Marsha) Klabo, Tom (Mary Kay) Klabo, and John Reavis; nieces: Carol Locken, Jolene (James) Brousseau, Paula Fass, Laurie (Doug) Shorey, Nancy (Gordy) Hall and Mary Klabo (Wayne Robley).

Preceding her in death was her husband Raymond, son David and a baby boy, sister Alpha Kjelland, parents Alfred and Clara, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Dean Rinde, Bernice and Joseph Bilden, Parnell and Marion Uglem, Adeline and Gene Leslie, Phillip and Lillian Uglem, Bert and Marie Uglem, and Florence Klabo.

She loved her family and adored her grandchildren. She was involved in their lives and activities. She was known to many as "Grandma Glenna", which earned her the nickname "GG".
