Gerald Hamlin

Gerald Hamlin, 80, rural Aneta, ND, passed away Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND. A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 18, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. with a visitation at 1:00 p.m. at the Aneta Community Church in Aneta.

Gerald William Hamlin was born in Walker, MN on May 5, 1946, to Marion D. Hamlin and Olive M. (Collins). He grew up and attended school in Walker. He began working for Gehrke Farms in Aneta from 1964 until their retirement in 2000. He then began working for Hillesland Farms from 2000-2015.

On March 25, 1967, Gerald married Elaine Mills and to this union were born 4 children: Richard (deceased – 1981), Danial (Angela Jodock, engaged), Wade (Evangeline), and Melody (Sam) Thomsen; 7 grandchildren: Logan Jensen (Delia), Luke, Kyle, and Audrey Hamlin; Reed, Ivy, and Elin Thomsen.

Jerry enjoyed restoring vintage automobiles, using his God given artistic abilities to create many paintings, and he did various projects around Aneta including the famous “BBQ Turkey” with Charles Gehrke.

Gerald was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Richard Hamlin, and his son, Richard.
