Gayle Holter

Gayle Holter, 77, of Hatton, ND, passed away Tuesday, October 4, 2022, at Sanford Hospital in Fargo, ND. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, October 12, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at St. John Lutheran Church in Hatton. A visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Hatton Prairie Village, 950 Dakota Ave, Hatton, ND 58240.

Gayle Christopherson was born November 4, 1944, in Minneapolis, MN to Allen and Gladys (Johnson) Christopherson. She grew up in Minneapolis and graduated from Central High School. Gayle met Rick Holter while playing in a fun softball league in 1966. They were married that year in Minneapolis. Gayle and Rick moved to Robbinsdale, MN after their marriage. In 1968, they adopted a son, Jason and in 1972, a daughter Jennie. 

In April of 1974, Gayle and Rick moved to Hatton and began farming. Gayle started working as a volunteer at Hatton Prairie Village in 1977 and continued to work there until her retirement in 2022. She opened a ceramic shop called T & G House of Molds with her friend Twyla. In the early 1990’s, Gayle ran a daycare for five years while still working at the nursing home. In 1991, Gayle and Rick adopted two girls, Jodi and Sandi. Even though she retired from Hatton Prairie Village in 2022, she still ran the coffee shop at the nursing home. Gayle was involved in Sunday School at St. John Lutheran Church, the Hatton Booster Club, and St. John Ladies Aide. Whenever there was an opportunity to help, she was always willing and ready.

Survivors include her husband, Rick, Hatton, ND; daughters: Jennie (Sean) Moser, Lee’s Summit, MO; Jodi Holter, Grand Forks, ND; Sandi (Matt) Schoenberg, Grand Forks, ND; 7 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren; sister, Diane (Greg) LaVelle;

Preceding her in death were her parents, brothers, Roger and Jimmy; sisters: Nancy, Carolyn, and Jean; and son, Jason.
