Frances Adams

Frances Adams, 76, of Northwood, ND, passed away Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at Northwood Deaconess Health Center in Northwood. A memorial service will be held Saturday, October 4, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at the Bilden-Askew Funeral Home in Northwood. A visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to The Hope Foundation - ND Cancer Center - 1452 44th Ave S, Unit E, Grand Forks, ND 58201.

Frances Mummaugh was born January 31, 1949, in Baltimore, MD, to Bernard and Mary Ruth (Sparks) Mummaugh. She spent a lot of time with her grandparents at their farm. She grew up in the Carol County, Maryland area and graduated from high school. After high school, Frances enlisted in the United States Air Force. On September 14, 1968, Frances married Joseph Adams Jr. Frances worked in Civil Service for the United States Air Force until her retirement. Joe and Frances lived in California, Idaho, Alaska, and Japan before being assigned to the United States Air Force Base in Grand Forks, ND.

After the flood of 1997 took their house in Grand Forks, they moved to Northwood. While in Northwood, Joe and Frances both belonged to the Northwood American Legion, Post 92, and volunteered with the Northwood Community/Commercial Club. After her retirement, she enjoyed sewing and doing arts and crafts.

Frances is survived by her son, Joseph Adams III (Mary Meader), Lidgerwood, ND; daughter, Mary Adams, Barnesville, MN; grandsons: Nate and Ben Adams, Mooreton, ND; ex-daughter-in-law, Donnell (Chad) Stallman, Mooreton, ND; She is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Joseph Adams Jr., and grandson, CJ Camp (Son of Mary Adams).
