Florence Strand

Florence Strand, 90, of Finley, ND passed away Monday, June 18, 2012 at Hatton Prairie Village in Hatton, ND. Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 21, 2012 at 2:00pm at the Finley Lutheran Church in Finley, ND. Visitation will be held at 1:00pm until the time of the service.

Florence was born November 3, 1921 to Torvald and Cora (Amundson) Torgerson at Dunn Center, ND. She grew up and attended school in Dunn County. On April 12, 1941, she married Sanford Strand in Hatton, ND. Florence was a secretary for the family business, Strand Ready Mix. In the winters, Sanford and Florence enjoyed trips to their home in Arizona. They moved to Hatton Prairie Village in 2004. Sanford passed away March 2nd, 2010. Florence enjoyed many things especially card games, bowling, golfing, cooking, quilting and playing Scrabble with her grandkids. She was active in the community and was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary for 65 years, an honorary member of the Deborah Circle, WELCA in Finley, and was a Cub Scout leader.

She is survived by her children: Sheila Beaudry of Post Falls, Idaho, Douglas (Kathy) of Cooperstown, ND, Alan of Mayville, ND and Rick (Marilyn) of Finley, ND; grandchildren: Kim (Mark) Percy, Laura (Dustin) Roberge, Nicole (Michael) Bangasser, Jennifer (Clayton) Dilly, Mark (Nicole Blasky) Strand, Steven (Kari) Strand, Matthew Strand, Patrick (Trish Carriere) Strand and Melissa Strand; Great-grandchildren, Madeline and Dexter Percy, Taylor and Chase Roberge, Makenna and Harper Dilly, Isla Strand, Mikko and Henrik Strand; Sisters: Melba (Alfred) Antonson, and Loretta Wendlick.

Florence was preceded in death by her parents; husband Sanford; Son, Gerald; brothers: Harry Torgerson, Truman Torgerson, Kenneth Torgerson; sisters: Kathleen Brager and Mabel Torgerson.
