Ernest Skurdahl, 81, of Northwood, ND passed away Friday, January 10, 2014 at Valley Eldercare in Grand Forks, ND. Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 18, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Ebenezer Lutheran Church in Northwood. A visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service at the church.
Ernest Skurdahl was born April 6, 1932 to Otto and Helga (Thompson) Skurdahl in Aneta, ND. He was baptized and confirmed at West Union Church, rural Northwood. Ernie attended rural school in Lorettta Township and graduated from Aneta, ND High School. He farmed the family farm and then moved to Northwood where he was employed at Uglem Implement. He became ill and moved to the Northwood nursing home until the tornado damaged the building, then he was moved to Valley Eldercare at Grand Forks, ND. Ernest loved country music, sing-a-longs, wearing his western hats and western shirts. Eldercare was home to him where he had wonderful, caring nurses and associates.
Ernest is survived by his granddaughter: Roseanne and grandchildren; siblings: Helen Tveiten Larson, Eunice (Norman) Jones both of Fargo, ND, Esther (Arthur) Perkins, Portland, OR, Elmer (Charlotte) Skurdahl, Tigard, OR, Janet (Donald) Paul, Kennewick, WA; He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Ernest was preceded in death by his wife, Marna (Haugo) and daughter, Dorette Jerome; parents, Otto and Helga (Thompson) Skurdahl; sisters: Elsie (Jerry) Frick, Portland, OR, Annis Skurdahl, Fargo, ND; brothers: Oliver (Geraldine) Skurdahl, St. Paul, MN, and infant brother Idean Aneta.
WE are sorry for your loss. Ernie was a friend and a guy with a great sence of humor. He was also a great neighbor in the Northwood Community. God Bless Him and your Family. We will be sending some Pics that we have as soon as we find a good address for Family.
