Dolores Strande

Dolores Strande, 94, of Hatton, ND passed away Saturday, June 20, 2020 at Hatton Prairie Village. A public visitation will be held Saturday, June 27, 2020 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. with a private family service to follow. Burial will be held at Ringsaker Cemetery, rural Cooperstown, ND.

Clara Dolores “Olson” Strande was born July 20, 1925 on the family farm near Cooperstown, ND to Albert and Clara (Hanson) Olson. She attended school through 8th grade at a rural school, then attended two years of high school in Cooperstown. WWII took her parents, sister, and herself to California, eventually working in defense plants. Shortly after the end of the war, her parents moved back to their home farm, she and her sister remained in California where they lived and worked.

After some years, she moved back to North Dakota, marrying Marvin Strande on August 30, 1947. They eventually owned and operated Strande’s Bakery, where she helped at the lunch counter and delivered baked goods to Larimore and Hatton. In 1975, they sold the bakery and moved to Green River, Wyoming, where they lived until moving back to ND in 1986.

Dolores was involved in Ebenezer church, teaching Sunday School and as a Ladies Aid Officer. She was also an active member of Tri-County Home auxiliary. She enjoyed when they went fishing, liked to travel to Doug and Louise’s on the east coast, she taught herself to crochet and made blankets, and she liked playing with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She and Marvin spent a lot of time on the farm where Brad and Mary live.

Dolores is survived by her husband, Marvin; son, Douglas (Louise); daughter, Mary (Brad) Meldahl; grandchildren: Michael, Paul, Chris, and Sarah; great-grandchildren: Sophia, Samantha, Josephine, Caden, Regan, Ava, Olivia, and Brady;

Preceding her in death were her parents, brothers: Harvey, Alvin, Garthfield, and Sid; sister, Marian; and grandson, Mark Meldahl;
