Dennis Sherva

Dennis Sherva, 78, of Grand Forks, ND and formerly of Northwood, ND, passed away on Tuesday, March 28, 2023, at Bethany Retirement Living in Fargo, ND. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 1, 2023, at 4:00 p.m. at Ebenezer Free Lutheran Church in Northwood. A visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. until the time of the service at the church.

Dennis Sherva was born March 12, 1945, to Robert and Ruth (Hanson) Sherva in Grand Forks. He grew up in Northwood and graduated from Northwood High School. After high school, Dennis began farming. On July 15, 1966, Dennis married Kathy Enger at Ebenezer Free Lutheran Church in Northwood. To this union, three children were born: Laura Lee, Paula Marie, and Jeffrey David.  He was also drafted into the United States Army in 1966 and served in the Vietnam War. After his two years of service, Dennis returned to Northwood where he continued farming until his retirement in 2015.

Survivors include his wife, Kathy, Grand Forks, ND; daughter, Laura (Derek) Sanda, Northwood, ND and their children: Justin Nygaard, Kayla (Brandon) Hanson, Katie Sanda and Jaden Sanda; daughter, Paula (Jonathan) Ruoff, Melrose, MN and their children: Madisyn, Zachary, and Brooke Ruoff; son, Jeff (Roxanne) Sherva, Horace, ND and their children: Zac (Lynsie) Hofmann, Noah, and Benjamin Sherva; great-grandchildren: Hailee and Cooper Hanson, and Malakai Hofmann; brothers: John (Loretta) Sherva, Northwood, ND; Marc (Merrie) Sherva, Walker, MN; sister, Janelle Skillrud, Verona, WI; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Robert and Ruth Sherva; grandparents, Bernard and Alma Sherva and Olaf and Edith Skjoiten; several aunts, uncles and a nephew, Kevin Sherva.
