Dennis McVeigh

Dennis McVeigh, 67, of Northwood, ND, passed away Saturday, November 1, 2025, at his home, rural Northwood, ND. A gathering in his honor will be held Saturday, November 8, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at 'the farm', which was his favorite place in the world, 22 44th St. NE, Northwood, ND 58267. Dennis had two requests; one, that people have a good time; and two, that people would wear their best Green Bay Packers attire. In lieu of flowers, memorial are preferred to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, KS 66675 or the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD 21741.

Dennis was born on July 20, 1958, in Elkhorn, WI, to William and Mary (Wagner) McVeigh. He graduated from the school of hard knocks and then spent the next twenty years of his life active in the Air Force, retiring as an E6 at the rank of Technical Sergeant in 1997. Following his service, he worked at Agvise, as a custodian in Larimore public school, and for Bjerke Brothers, Inc. He spent much of his later life working on small engines, specifically lawnmowers, and tearing things apart to see how they worked. He was an avid reader and puzzle enthusiast. Dennis had a unique sense of humor. Anytime someone would say, “Hi,” his response was always, “I wish I was.” He was very proud of his beard and enjoyed impersonating Santa and scaring children.

Dennis is survived by his wife of 12 years, Francyene McVeigh; his children Sarah Phillips, Stephanie Slivnik (Kyle), Dennis McVeigh (Kina), and David McVeigh (Leah); step-children Terry Wayne Watts (Mallory), Victoria Watts, and John Paul Watts; siblings Mike McVeigh (Teri), Mary Beth Lamping (Mike), Pat McVeigh (Nina), Karen Boran (Richard), Kevin McVeigh (Tammy), and Bryan McVeigh (Julie); and many grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Mary McVeigh, brothers Stephen McVeigh and David McVeigh, and sister Colleen James, along with the top half of his left thumb.
