David Jensen

David Jensen, 76, of Sharon, ND, passed away Sunday, August 16, 2026, at Hatton Prairie Village in Hatton, ND. Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 22, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. at Beaver Creek Lutheran Church, rural Hatton, ND. A visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. until the time of the service at the church. David's burial will take place Monday, August 24 at the Westfield Cemetery, rural Sharon. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to local school music programs so that all students can afford a desired instrument.

David Robin Jensen was born March 18,1950, in Sharon, ND, to Marian (Herigstad) and Martin Jensen.

Sharon was home for David most of his life. Throughout his school years, he participated in sports (basketball, football, and track) and music (choir and band). He excelled at playing his baritone horn.

Following high school graduation in 1968, David attended NDSU and majored in English. It was also in the early 1970’s that he traveled in Mexico for several months. Thus, he later studied Spanish at UND, and went on to teach Spanish at Northwood and Hatton High Schools.

David started farming in the fall of 1988, and farmed for over 20 years. As his health declined he eventually became more homebound. To the end he remained mentally sharp and as independent as possible. David was a very thoughtful man, and those who had the opportunity to converse with him appreciated the depth of who he was.

David is survived by two brothers: John (Linda) Jensen, Sharon, ND; and Joel (Lauren) Jensen, Golden Valley, MN. He is also survived by a niece, Rachel Nieting, Seattle, WA, and her daughters Kaylee and Karina; a nephew, Matthew Harris, Phoenix, AZ; step-niece, Tessa Bride, Moorhead, MN, and her sons, Lincoln and Preston; uncle, Frank Lusson, Madison, WI; and numerous cousins and friends. David is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Mark.
