David Hedland

January 13, 1951 — January 24, 2014

David Allen Hedland was born to A. Yvonne and Hubert Hedland on January 13, 1951 in Fargo, ND. On January 24, 2014 he lost his battle with cancer.
David graduated from Hatton High School in 1969. Later that year he joined the Marine Corp and served his country with a tour in Vietnam. On December 28, 1969, he married Laurel Hanson. David received an Associate Degree in Parks and Recreation in Bottineau, ND and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education majoring in Biology and Physical Education at Mayville, ND. He spent several years teaching and coaching in the surrounding area. Throughout these years, he has touched many lives.
David enjoyed traveling with his family. In 2012 he was able to take his dream trip to Washington, D.C. with his wife, children and spouses, and his grandchildren. He also enjoyed golfing, fishing, gardening, and animals. More than anything he loved spending time with family and friends.
David will be remembered as a devoted husband, son, brother, friend and loving father and grandfather. He had a positive attitude and saw the best in everyone. He will be remembered for always having a smile on his face.
David is preceded in death by his father Hubert Hedland.
He leaves behind his wife Laurel and their children Jared (Sandra) Hedland, Jamie (Kelly) Funk, Corey (Jennifer) Hedland and Sarah (Chad) Amb as well as their grandchildren Darian, Mavrik, Reggie, Weston, Sadie, and Brooke, his mother A. Yvonne (Hedland) Schiffner, his brother Dean (DeAnn), two special sister-in-laws Jane (David) Kleveland and Barbara Dakken as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.

A prayer service for David will be at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday at St. John Church in Hatton, ND with visitation from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. His funeral will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday at St. John Church.
