Darrel Fuglem

Darrel Ray Fuglem, 58, of Northwood, ND, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday April 27, 2022, at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND.  A memorial service will be held Friday, May 6, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at the Bilden-Askew Funeral Home in Northwood. A visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.

Darrel was born on October 4, 1963, in Northwood to Glenn and Dorothy (Saint) Fuglem. He grew up in Aneta, ND and attended Aneta High School.

In 1981, Darrel married Cindy Melfald and together they had two children: Kasey and Jennifer and resided in Northwood.

Few years later, Darrel married the love of his life Denise (Johnson) Fuglem on November 9, 1985, in Michigan ND. They had four children: Nicki, Derek, Justin, and Brianna. Together they raised six children on compassionate understanding and unwavering love and support. They resided on a farm outside of Northwood.

Darrel was a hard worker throughout his working days. He had various jobs that always kept him busy. He worked at American Tire in Grand Forks, Northwood Cenex Co-op, owned his own Power Washing business, owned and ran Big D’s Tire Service in Northwood (formally known as Skip’s Gas Station), and was a truck driver for Kyllo Trucking. He always seemed to be busy with various odd-end jobs.

Darrel was a Nascar fanatic. He loved collecting Nascar memorabilia. His favorite Nascar driver was Dale Earnhardt Sr. He loved country music and attending

Wefest with Denise, loved muscle cars, and tinkering on his own vehicles, Rottweilers- especially his favorite dog Bodie, and doing yard work on the farm.

Those who knew Darrel knew he was a stubborn man but had a soft warm heart. We are all going to miss his big smile, laugh, and sense of humor. He was so proud of his kids.

Darrel will be greatly missed. He is survived by his children: Kasey Hannestad, Hillsboro, ND; Jennifer Fuglem, Larimore, ND; Nicki Fuglem, Ohio; Derek Fuglem, Bismarck, ND; Justin Fuglem, Larimore, ND; Brianna Fuglem, Northwood, ND; Grandchildren: Jacoby Hannestad, Jayden Hell, Kilah Bayer, Mason Ouellette, Paisley Hell, Brody Fuglem, Beau Fuglem; Siblings: Glenna Arlien, Don (Lindy) Fuglem, Dean (Lana) Fuglem, step-sister, Kay Thykeson

Preceding him in death were his parents, Glenn and Dorothy, Step-dad, Merle Ophaug, and his late wife, Denise
