Dale Gulson

Dale Gulson, 73, of Mayville, ND passed away Sunday, November 20, 2011 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND. Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 26, 2011 at 10:30am at St. John Lutheran Church in Hatton, ND. Visitation is Friday, November 25 from 5:00-7:00pm with a 7:00pm prayer service at Hatton Prairie Village in Hatton. Burial will be in the St. John Cemetery. Memorials are preferred to "Mayville to Mali with World Vision."
Dale was born March 11, 1938, in Northwood, ND to Carl and Nettie (Norgaard) Gulson. He attended Hatton High School graduating in 1956.
On December 28, 1963, he married Sheila Cessford in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. He farmed near Hatton and served on the Hatton School Board, St. John Lutheran Church Council, and was a Steele County Commissioner for several years. Dale was an avid hunter, fisherman, gun safety leader, member of the Rod and Gun Club, and he loved all sports. He particularly enjoyed watching and following his granddaughters, nephews and nieces activities closely. Not only was Dale a great socializer, but he was also a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. His granddaughters put a special twinkle in his eye and held a special place in his heart.
Survivors include his wife Sheila; daughter, Bonnie (Brent) Freeland, Mayville ; granddaughters: Bethany, Erin, and Abby Freeland; sister, Maxine Larson; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents and son, Bradley.
