Audrey Mandt

Audrey Mandt, 88, of Northwood, ND passed away Thursday, September 23, 2021 at Northwood Deaconess Health Center in Northwood with her family by her side. Funeral services will be held Monday, September 27, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Washington Lutheran Church, rural Northwood. A visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service at the church.

Audrey was born in Grand Forks County on September 23, 1933, to Torfen and Norma (Christianson) Maurseth. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Bethania Lutheran Church. After attending country school, Audrey graduated from Northwood High School in 1951.


Audrey married her high school sweetheart Norman, on June 2, 1952.
Audrey became a nurse’s aide shortly after their marriage and continued in her nursing career by earning her Nursing diploma from the Sisters of St. Joseph School of Nursing. She went on to earn her bachelor’s degree in nursing from UND. Her nursing career spanned over 60 years devoting most of her days at the Northwood Hospital, both as a staff RN and Director of Nursing. After her retirement from NDHC, she continued her nursing career at Altru Health System in Grand Forks being awarded The Daisy Award For Extraordinary Nurses.


Audrey enjoyed traveling with family and attending grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s activities. She was a faithful servant in her church as organist, council member and WELCA. She enjoyed coffee with her friends, game shows and playing Hand and Foot.


Survivors include: Children: Mike (Karen) Mandt, Diane (Jeff) Nelson, and Kristi (Mike) Poreda; grandchildren: Alicia (Mike) Tolerico, Anthony (Alex) Mandt, Jessica (Matt) Strand, Paul (Julie) Nelson, Amanda (Doug) Chavis, and Nick Poreda; great-grandchildren: Haydyn Mandt; Ben, Katie and Leah Strand; Emily and Madeline Nelson; brother Jim Maurseth; sister Marlys Alexson; brother-in-law Richard (Yvonne) Mandt; sister-in-law Cheryl Mandt; several nieces and nephews and special friend and nieghbor Bev Suby.


Preceding her in death: Husband Norman Mandt; parents Torfen and Norma Maurseth; brother Lyle Maurseth; granddaughter Rebecca Nelson; brothers-in-law Richard Alexson, Jim Brogger and Edward Mandt; sisters-in-law Barbara Brogger and Mary Maurseth.
Memorials are preferred to Bethania Lutheran Cemetery, Washington Lutheran Cemetery, or a charity of your choice.
Audrey was a role model, living her life devoted to her family, church, and her career. She was much loved.
