Anna Helene(Amundson) Marschke, 101, of Northwood, ND went to eternal peace at Northwood Deaconess Health Center on August 16, 2013. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, August 21, 2013 at 10:30am at Northwood Evangelical Church, Northwood, ND. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the time of the service at the church.
Anna was born November 24, 1911 to Iver and Ida (Lundberg) Amundson in Dwight, ND. The family moved to a farm south of Roseau, MN when she was 3 years old and that farm was still in family hands. She worked in Roseau for room and board in order to graduate from Roseau High School in 1929. After high school, she attended beauty school in Thief River Falls, MN and subsequently worked in Warroad before moving to Mayville, ND to continue practicing her beauty skills. She married Harry Marschke in Mayville in 1936 and that union produced two sons, James and Jerome. The family moved to Northwood in 1950 where they operated the Chevrolet dealership, and she again opened and operated a beauty shop. Anna was a long time member of the Northwood Evangelical Lutheran Church and the Order of Eastern Star.
Anna is survived by her sons: Jim, Thompson, ND, and Jerry, Pine River, MN; grandsons: Jay (Kathy), Houston, TX, Steve (Debbie), Torrence, CA, Ryan (Hilary), Maple Grove, MN; granddaughter Robyn (Tracy), Colorado Springs, CO; six great grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her parents, brothers Arthur and Harold, and sister Edith.
Jim,Jerry and family, My sympathy to you on the passing of a dear lady. Your Mom was a good neighbor and friend, oh, so many years ago. I saw her a couple of years ago and she was sharp as a tack. Just couldn't see or hear very well. It is comforting to know she is whole again in her heavenly home. Sincerely, Donna
