Alice Mutchler, 89, of Mesa, Arizona formerly of rural Aneta, North Dakota died Monday, March 29, 2010 at the Legacy Retirement Facility in Mesa.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 am, Monday, April 5, 2010 at St. Stephen's Catholic Church in Larimore with burial in Silent Hill Cemetery in Aneta.
Visitation will be one hour prior to services in the church.
Wife of the late Lowell Mutchler of Aneta, ND, mother of Steve Mutchler of St. Louis, MO and Jan Mutchler of Oreana, ID, mother-in-law of Judy Mutchler and Warren Gretz and grandmother of Daniel and Kathryn Mutchler of St. Louis, Mo. Alice was born in Larimore, North Dakota to Martin and Nellie Shide. She was preceded in death by sisters, Kathryn Hunt of Larimore, ND, Madeline Lever of Columbia, S. Carolina and brothers, Hank Shide of Larimore, ND and Jim Shide of Riverside, CA. Alice is survived by her twin sister Agnes Wall of Larimore, ND, brothers Ted Shide of Reno, NV and Bob Shide of Grand Forks, ND and sister Helen Wageman of Larimore, ND. Alice was well-known in the Red River Valley for her horsemanship. She raised and trained quarter horses on the family farm near Aneta, North Dakota. She retired to Mesa, Arizona in the late 1980's and resided there until her death.
The Bilden Funeral Home of Northwood is assisting the family with arrangements.
