Adaline Lieberg

August 22, 1922 — June 21, 2018

Adaline Marie Lieberg passed away June 21, 2018, in Greenville, SC at age 95. She was a loving wife, a devoted mother, a valued friend, and a lifelong observer of life around her. Her most valued treasures were her family, her many friends, and her relationship with her Lord. She is survived by a son, Gerald (Dolores), and a daughter Carolyn.

Adaline was born to Albert and Clara Onsager on a farm near Northwood, ND August 22, 1922. She married Odd Lieberg, Jr. on December 28, 1941. The couple moved many times living in 18 homes during their 58 years of marriage. They lived in Minneapolis, Watertown, SD, Pocatello, ID, Madison, Milwaukee, Fort Wayne, Indianapolis, Fargo, and Kewanee, IL, before retiring to Hot Springs Village, AR, in 1984 where they lived for 15 years. Adaline was predeceased by husband Odd in 1999.

With each move Ad and Odd connected to their new community through church membership and a variety of volunteer opportunities. She especially valued her 50+ year membership in PEO.

Adaline was specially honored in 1964 when she represented Idaho in the Mrs. America Pageant. She was selected as Mrs. U.S. Savings Bonds and in that role spent a significant part of the next 18 months traveling throughout the country giving talks and meeting with business leaders, elected officials, and other prominent leaders promoting U. S. Savings Bonds.

After the death of her husband, Adaline remained in Hot Springs Village for a time. She remarried. She and her husband enjoyed several happy years in Naples, FL and Detroit Lakes, MN. Her second husband Thor predeceased her in 2008.

Adaline leaves four granddaughters: Gerald’s daughters Lauren Karlsson (Jonas) and Shannon Lockaby (Jason), and Carolyn’s daughters Adria Hardesty and Rachel Sowards (David). She is also survived by three great-grandsons, her most beloved sister, Margaret, sister-in-law Ruth, and nieces and nephews.

There will be a Celebration of her life in Greer, SC on July 29th. Burial will take place in Northwood, ND in early August. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to Cottey College which Adaline supported for over 50 years. The mailing address is Cottey College, 1000 Austin Blvd, Nevada, MO, 64772.
