Obituary

Kermit Heskin, 82, of Aneta, North Dakota died peacefully Monday, September 22, 2008 at the Tri-County Health Center in Hatton, North Dakota.


Memorial Services will be 11:00 am, Saturday, October 4, 2008 at West Union Lutheran Church rural Aneta, North Dakota.


Kermit Heskin was born October 23, 1925 on the Kjos Farm, near Aneta, North Dakota the son of Oliver and Ida (Kjos) Heskin. He was raised there and was educated at the Lorretta Township Country School #16. During World War II he served in the United States Army as a Medic. After his discharge he returned home and began farming. Kermit was always ready for fun and a new adventure. He liked to travel and spent his winters working factory jobs in Michigan and California. He enjoyed trapping, fishing and dancing.
On September 13, 1980 he was united in marriage to Elona Rowland at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Fargo, North Dakota. They made their home on the farm where he continued farming until retiring in 1991. In 1997 they moved into Aneta. Elona died March 14, 2003. Kermit moved to the Good Samaritan Center in Aneta and later to the Tri-County Health Center in Hatton.
Kermit was a member of West Union Lutheran Church and the Edward A. Broberg #16 American Legion for over 60 years.


He is survived by his nephew, Roger (Dawn) Lausch of Hannaford, North Dakota; Shirley (Virgil) White of Tucson, Arizona; great nephews and niece, Cody and Trevor Lausch and Dakotah White. Kermit was the oldest of the 23 Heskin cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Iyla Lausch, and several cousins.
